This trial session took place over several trips to the store, so you will notice that my hair and jewelry have changed. I hate to say I live in my local Nordstrom, but I’m there often these days. I’ve received many requests to share more plus size options, so I’m making a concerted effort to link more options when I find them.
If you’re new here, welcome. A locker room diary when I go to a local store for a trial session to see what’s new and how it looks on a woman over 25. I have broad shoulders, straight hips, a tall torso and long arms. I usually buy one size bigger on the top. You will see that I try on clothes in colors and shapes that may or may not like me because I want you to see what’s in store and get some style ideas. To help you understand how things work, I’ll tell you what sizes I wear.
This light summer dress is a deep indigo linen blend with colorful embroidery around the neckline. XS-XXL (16W, plus size here. I love that it has pockets and the fabric is opaque, so you can skip the slip if you want. This linen blend cardigan It’s one of my essential summer pieces because they’re so lightweight and go over most things to cover arms and for cold air-conditioning situations. It has side seam buttons so you can close it and wear it four different ways. Multiple colors, sizes XS-XXL and petite and plus here.
You will see the snaps on the waist this skirt it’s black and it mixes, but the picture on the website shows the silver studs… so I can only speak to people I saw in the store and brought home :). It comes in white or black, sizes 0-18. A great stretch twill that you can wear or wear at a modest length. I have given the link to the Vince Camuto style blouse but the website does not show the leopard print… I hate that this is happening.
it’s fluent ribbed skirt fully lined with white which I always appreciate. The fabric is not knitted, it is woven, so it curls nicely… I tested it. This is one of those pieces that you can wear and dress up or wear in a variety of ways. It has gode panels on the bottom that make it nice and full, but slim around the hips. XXS-XXL sizes are available, plus sizes are here. I did not find a small option, fortunately, Nordstrom gnaws items for free. The v-neck tank top is a draped woven fabric that hugs the body. Comes in fourteen colors and patterns, sizes XXS-XXL, plus size here.
Here is the same skirt shown above in black… this time medium denim wash. I’m wearing one size up in this photo, which makes it sit lower on my hips and look taller. It’s not boring but has nice shading. They recommend going one size down on this brand and I agree. This NYDJ blouse It is a long-lasting customer favourite, available in 36 colors/patterns in sizes 00-22.
Someone must be back this dress to my shop because that was all they had. I’m shocked that I can button up this XS because I’m wearing Medium…but I can’t breathe :). It’s a nice, light Tencel that can be very cool in the summer. This comes in olive and rust color, sizes XXS-XXL 16W. This plus size here.
This crisp cotton shirt dress comes in five colors in sizes XS-XXL, plus size here. It works big so small fits me and you can easily make it smaller. It has an exaggerated hem and I think it would look good with a belt. This type of dress covers many sins, is very comfortable and looks polished on a hot day.
it’s easy striped dress Made of vibrant cotton with spandex flowing outward from the body. The geometric print has a fun and modern feel in neutral tones of ivory/grey/black. It has side seam pockets which is always a plus for me. Comes in sizes XS-XXL, plus size here.
Another great lightweight blouse available in 26 colors/patterns in sizes XS-XXL 14W. I’m wearing it with fun wide leg jeans in lemon yellow. These are running out fast. 27″ inseam cotton/spandex blend.
Same skirt as above, this time paired with a satin camisole and a linen-blend cardigan. I like pale blue with white for warm weather. This is a nice little mosque that is too small for me, but that was all they had on the shelf. It’s a beautiful, flowing, woven fabric that should graze the body. Well stocked on the website. I put another one on it linen-blend 4-pack cardigan. This cardigan is made in tons of colors every year.
