Dressing Room Diary: Fresh Colors and Comfortable Fabrics by Talbots

As I mentioned yesterday, I went into a few Talbots for the locker room diary. This lime-coloured jacket said my name and I had to try it. A cheerful, fresh color that will brighten up any day. Most of Talbots’ outfits are available in miss, petite, plus and plus petite.

If you’re new here, welcome. A locker room diary This is when I go to a local store for a trial session to see what’s new and how it looks on a woman over 25. For reference, I’m 5’4″ tall and weigh about 140 pounds. I have broad shoulders, straight hips, a long torso, and long arms. I usually buy one size larger on the top. You’ll find I try on clothes in colors and shapes that may or may not like me. I want you to see what’s in stores and get some style ideas.To help you understand how things work, I’ll tell you what sizes I wear.

I’m not the only one who found this jacket is hilarious because it’s flying off the shelves. This is a miss XS that I can barely get my arms through and the last one in my store. It’s a great color for both gloomy weather and bright sunshine! It is lightweight and a great piece for layering. It comes in this pistachio shade and a softer moss color. Lime is popping up in many places for spring 2023, so Talbots is right on trend. It’s hard for me to say but it seems to fit the size (TTS). Her boyfriend white shirt is a classic, as is the tight-fitting jeans in this deep Lyra wash. I’ve gained a few holiday pounds 🙁 so I had to go up to 8P in jeans that fit TTS.

This terracotta-coloured quilted blazer is double-breasted and also available in rattan or indigo colour. I love the soft round neckline of this cropped jacket. The length is perfect to help your legs look longer too 🙂 I wear it over a dress cotton classic plaid shirt (on sale) in shades of pink, ivory and taupe. There’s a lot of color mixing going on in fun new combinations these days, and everything seems fine.

The website shows this cardigan underneath this quilted jacket, but I’d have to go up a jacket size to make it. The denim shirt is a slightly lighter wash than thin denim, but you still get a column of color effect. BTW- They say double jeans will be trending (again) in spring 2023. Has it ever gone out of fashion? The shirt has a classic cut with TTS and no extra buttons on the patch pockets.

This striped jacket has fun nautical vibes. It looks black in my pictures but it’s a dark indigo blue. The website describes it as a cable knit, but I haven’t seen a cable… just a thick knit with wide stripes. What reinforces the nautical look for me is the concealer to the front 🙂 I tried this on an ivory and white pillar and then replaced it with a navy blue trousers. The size of these strips is pretty substantial, so I think even in the petite version it can beat shorter girls.

Chatham pants are a terrific basic in 8 colors. They have a straight side zipper that keeps everything smooth throughout the tummy. Soho leggings are an essential style of ponte knit pull-on that comes in three colors; I wear indigo.

This time of year feels like T by Talbots season to me. Soft, comfortable, updated athletic styles are perfect for a casual lifestyle. This knit sweater it has side zippers for access to your pockets and it has a comfortable fabric with plenty of spandex. It is white and indigo in color. These casual straight pants It is pull-on style with 11% spandex, so never lose their shape! I use them in navy and love how comfortable they are and still look polished.

Shoulder strips on this sweater really fun but exactly in the wrong place for my broad shoulders. If your bottom is wider than your top, this will give your body a nice balance. I wore this French terry hoodie over it, but I probably wouldn’t wear them together as it hides the lines. Hoodie is indigo and white. I think it would be great all spring and summer as a light layer over white jeans.

The next day, I crashed and reset my other Talbots. these knit wide-leg trousers. I love the silhouette and flowing cast of the leg. They also come in indigo color. The elevation is high and there are double nautical buttons on the front that I neglected to photograph… sorry, rookie mistake.

These wide leg white jeans it has a trouser vibe with a high waist and cut pockets. The fabric is sturdy, so they are pleasantly opaque and have plenty of stretch. I paired them with this striped tee with an interesting shoulder detail. The sleeves are slightly fluffy and the upper shoulder has stripes running from front to back.

Here are the same white jeans as above, this time with a relaxed turtleneck. It also comes in deep indigo and ivory. This outfit is warm enough to be worn at this time of year but has a spring feel to it because of its colors. I see this softly metallic booties like this one or sneakers like this one.

I end this post with a little more lime. This soft cardigan its name is pistachio but in my eyes it is lime. It’s also available in three different colors, including a gorgeous blue. The leading edges feature a twill type band that finishes it off. I’m wearing it over a simple cotton t-shirt (can’t find the link) and these high waist straight leg jeans. These classic black jeans are completely fade resistant, so they won’t turn gray after washing.

Everything is still flowing and I hope more of the collection will be on the shelves when they clean up more of the reds, plaids and holiday stuff…which are marked far below.
