Before leaving town last week, I stopped by the Loft to check out what’s new. As usual, it looked like my local store was doing a bankruptcy sale with sales racks everywhere. I understand now that my Loft sells their stores this way, but it’s frustrating to see this because I love to shop there. If you’re new here, welcome! A locker room diary This is when I go to a local store and do a trial session to see what’s new and show you how it looks on a woman over 25. For reference, I’m 1.64″ tall and weigh about 142 pounds. I have broad shoulders, straight hips, a long torso, and long arms. I usually buy one size larger at the top. I want you to see it and get some style ideas.To help you understand how things work, I’ll tell you what sizes I wear.
This black and white shirt dress It’s a size big for me, but I can definitely wear it…. especially if my husband keeps bringing home potato chips. The brand also says it runs large, so you might want to consider downsizing. A great linen/viscose blend that will cool you off on a hot day. The lower side slits are airy but not too high to show anything.
this striped shirt It’s made for lacing, so the design has removed all the excess fabric in the front and has a shorter-than-usual tail that you can tuck under or wear. It is a vibrant cotton/modal blend that drapes beautifully. It has long sleeves that I fold. I chose reg over petite because I have a long torso.
I’m wearing it with Munroe thin chino In a petite with a 24 1/2″ inseam. This is a customers favorite style and it has eight colors and I wear Pale Banana. The colors look brighter than what I see online in person. These are a comfortable machine washable cotton/spandex blend.
Here are 27″ regular length Munroe chino pants with inseams. I wear them ribbed linen blend cardigan and a cheerful t-shirt. The cardigan comes in three colors and is selling out fast in white. website tags this shirt white, but clearly green and a white stripe.
Same style shirt like the black and white above. How fun is this bright pink color? It also comes in a gorgeous cobalt blue and rich green color. This type of dress would make a great workhorse on vacation and can even double as a swimsuit cover. I wish I had brought this home with me.
This same striped shirt which I showed above in yellow… this time in cheerful pink. I’m not sure why they didn’t list the items with the varying color options. I would buy this, but I have a shirt from J. Crew that I wear every year that’s a dead ringer for it. these jeans has a longer-than-usual inseam (29 1/2″ in petite and 32″ normally), I’m assuming to wear with existing platform sneakers and wedge sandals. These are a very flattering cut that is slim across the hips and thighs and then widens slightly over your shoes. The frayed edge means you can easily cut them to the length you need.
The same white jeans I showed above, this time with a tight v-neck in the front cobalt blue shirt. It’s hard to see, but this tee has a slightly puffy sleeve and will look great on women with those narrow shoulders. The slim fit at the front and down the sleeve offers a flattering fit. It comes in four colors.
Style Tip- This side by side shows why I love a third layer. It visually cuts out the outer third of an outfit, making you look slimmer.
This little swing dress It is a navy blue white knit with a button placket and a frill bottom. This dress, which they call classic and petite, sounds normal. I paired it with light cardigan this can be a workhorse in your wardrobe all summer long. The translucent cardi is available in five colors, regular and petite. It’s intended to be tall, but I might prefer petite.
These Riviera Skinny pants Another customer favorite that Loft carries with different colors and patterns every season. They have a slightly higher style than Munro chino and are more like pants but still stretchy. These come in ten colors, curvy fits here. i wear them classic cotton cardigan And casual white shirt. They call it a tunic-length shirt but at only 27″ long, it was easy to tuck in.
MORE FINDINGS FROM LOFT
The last outfit felt a bit like a palette cleaner after all that color. Would you rather see more color styles or more neutrals here?
