Dresses for Women Over 50 to Feel Confident

For many years we’ve been flooded with puff sleeves, gathers, ruffles and tops and dresses, it’s hard to find an alternative when looking for a simple dress. For our edition of 50+ Styles this month, Cindy and I gave ourselves a challenge…find a dress or two He spoke our personal style language that we would feel safe wearing. It was a difficult job. Recently my readers have asked for more dress options so I try them for you every chance I get. Here are some dresses I shared-

I can say that I tried on more than 40 dresses in the last few weeks and tried to find a dress that rings all my bells. I started to feel like Goldilocks; one was too short, one was too baggy, one had awkward arms and it kept going. And in the end, as is usually the case when buying clothes off the shelf, I had to compromise on a few things.

This type of fabric moves very nicely and silk feels very luxurious. It’s definitely an investment, but I’ll wear it for many years, making the cost per wear low. I have an upcoming bridal shower that would be perfect for this. Almost sold out as a single piece but still stocked with a striped fabric.

I snatched my straw hat for $16 from a discount bin years ago and the Jenny Bird chain earrings are long gone, but these days they’re a repeat in my wardrobe.

Is there a magic formula for finding a confident dress for a grown woman? There is definitely. Start with the features you must have in a dress that you don’t want to compromise on. Then proceed to fit and color. Does it flatter your shape and fit the situation you need? And finally, does it evoke negative feelings (like childish) that can spoil your enjoyment of wearing it?
