So, I have to admit… I’m insecure about my arms, especially my armpits.
Everyone has an area or body part that we are extra sensitive to. So yes, no matter how much love yourself If you practice, there will still be things that are a struggle to love. BUT, the most important thing to remember is that there is nothing wrong with you or that part of your precious body.
We have been conditioned to believe that anything less than society’s definition of perfection is something that needs to be changed. Still, I found that the more I embraced my imperfections, the better and more confident I felt.
So, for the last 35 years of my life, I’ve decided to give my arms and armpits the love they deserve. Better late than never!
My particular insecurities stem from: keratosis pilaris (aka chicken skin) on my upper arms, cellulite and dry skin. So, I researched what might be good products to use for love on my arms, and through trial and error I found a few products that really helped my skin feel pampered in that area, and in turn, made me feel more confident when going sleeveless!

This detoxifying mask is made with natural ingredients. First, charcoal draws impurities to the surface of the skin. Kaolin clay then “captures” these impurities to prevent them from being reabsorbed by the skin. Next, glycolic acid, a powerful AHA, combines with willow bark extract and tea tree oil to exfoliate and purify.

I was lucky enough to try Dove’s Ultimate Antiperspirant before it was released, and I love how it feels and looks on my underarms. So I decided to reach out to Dove and ask exactly *how* they did it.
- Is this the brand’s first water-based deodorant?
This is our first stick to use water-based technology; this means that some ingredients are delivered in water and emulsified in oils and waxes before being cooled and fixed in a solid cream form.
- Does being water-based change the effectiveness of the deodorant (in other words, can this be a gym deodorant)?
Dove Ultimate Antiperspirant provides up to 48 hours of odor and sweat protection. It provides the odor protection of a deodorant as well as the sweat protection of an antiperspirant! Dove Ultimate Antiperspirant’s formula also includes our latest generation antiperspirant active, which provides more effective sweat protection.
- What are the “6x more skincare ingredients” found in this new formula?
It contains 6 times more moisturizer (vs Dove Advanced Care) like glycerine, which helps keep your skin hydrated and soft for longer.
final thoughts
When I tried different products, the common theme among those that worked was that they were gentle on the skin, deeply hydrating and exfoliating. They definitely help me feel more confident by showing off my arms and underarms! While it’s important to note that I still have keratosis pilaris and still have cellulite and stretch marks under my arms… but you know what, it’s fine with me!
Finding products that work for me and taking the time to touch, pamper and get to know the part of my body where I’m most insecure has really helped me as much as the products themselves!
Are you also insecure about your arms/seats? Have you tried these products? Let me know your thoughts and suggestions!
