Casual Spring Dresses for Women Over 50

I got a big yes to my question about dresses on Monday, so I started looking for wearable, casual dresses for women over 50. Stopped by for a trial session on my way home from a particularly grueling visit. to the dentist. You’ll see that one side of my face is frozen in some of the other photos from that trial session and not when I revisit it the next day.

If you’re new here, welcome. A locker room diary when I go to a local store for a trial session to see what’s new and how it looks on a woman over 25. I have broad shoulders, straight hips, a tall torso and long arms. I usually buy one size bigger on the top. You will see that I try on clothes in colors and shapes that may or may not like me because I want you to see what’s in store and get some style ideas. To help you understand how things work, I’ll tell you what sizes I wear.

This long sleeve maxi shirt has pockets which is a big plus in my book. Comes in this blue or tan color with side slits for ease of movement. I’m wearing a small, it’s too big, so I recommend getting one size smaller. It’s an essential fabric, so you don’t need a slip with this. XXS-XXL sizes are available.

I wish I had seen this dress before my Miami trip because it’s gorgeous! The fabric is opaque and lightweight, so it’s perfect for hot weather. The sleeves are a huge plus in my book and the tie in the front gives the bodice a nice shape. It comes in a stripe, navy, and this green color that sells out fast in sizes XXS-XXL…I ordered navy for my upcoming trip to visit my brother in Mexico.

This striped dress is a mix of horizontal and vertical stripes in a loose linen blend. It is cut on the looser side so you can shrink your size for a looser look. It has 3/4 sleeves, a contrast stripe so you can push it up, and elastic at the bottom. The waist is a little high but not empire. It comes in sizes XXS-XXL with a blue or white stripe.

This floral maxi dress is a rayon blend that will be cool in hot weather. The layered skirt lays flat instead of puffing up because the fabric is draped. The short sleeves have elastic so I guess I’ll cut them off. This blue is so fresh and beautiful. XXS-XXL sizes are available.

It says holiday for me all over this Treasure and Bond dress. Loose fit, breathable cotton, balloon sleeves and ruffled hem. The fabrics have a definite boho feel that would work well in the city or in a tropical climate. 00-18 sizes are available.

I loved this dress on the hanger and even more on my body. This small was too comfortable for me so I ordered a medium size as it seems to sell out fast. She has a gently fitting bodice with a drawstring at the waist and rang every bell for me. The sleeves are wavy but not too girly and the ruffle at the bottom is soft and not bothersome. This is a print that I love and it means a lot because most dresses are floral print and I (yet) have not bothered to wear them. I plan to wear it with both blue and white denim jackets until the really warm weather comes and then it will work perfectly on its own. I can wrap it an inch or two when it arrives as it should be just below my knee. Yes, it’s a splurge, but I rarely buy dresses and have wanted them for a while. Ok, let’s get back to DRD for you 😊.

Here is a gorgeous little linen dress with a ribbed pleated bodice and short sleeves. Pleats give some shape without being snug. The linen is plentiful, so you won’t need a slip on, which I also appreciate in hot weather. 00-20 sizes are available. I love the drape of this fabric and the length is really nice.

This mock dress is made from a breathable Tencel/linen blend. It is unlined but opaque so a glide would be optional. There is elastic that I push up at the bottom with 3/4 sleeves. I’m seeing a lot of these square neck dresses and tops this spring. It has side pockets which is always a plus in my book. This dress is available in sizes 0-14.

This dress seems to be selling fast because the only sizes left in my store were XS and L. It’s big and you can see the extra fabric at the hips so I need medium. I love the color and unique plaid of this. This is the kind of dress you can wear for a shower or a wedding and wear it with flat sandals and a cardigan. A rayon blend that drapes beautifully. Sizes 00-16 are available.

This shirt dress also has white color, but I decided to try this lively, fun green, which is the fashion of spring. A nice option, the bodice is fitted and gives you some shape, and the notched neckline adds a little more structure. This is 10% cotton and available in sizes 00-18.

Another spring/summer dress with fitted bodice and ruffled hem. The straps are nice and wide enough to cover your bra straps. It is a button-down rayon/linen blend and is available in sizes 00-18. It has a very nice shape and I would probably wear this with my wife. Nic+Zoe Cardi for some arm coverage.

The dress is clean but there is obviously some dirt in the mirror. This tulle dress is available in 3 colors in sizes 00-18. I think this would be fun with a belt, would make a great swimsuit cover-up and just stay cool in hot weather. Machine washable, 100% cotton, perfect for hot summer days.

This dress is too tight for me but I managed to button it up to show how it looks. It has long sleeves with shirred cuffs. I would call these 3/4 sleeves not full length. The bottom is ruffled and has a floral pattern. They have a drawstring waist, button front and sizes XXS-XXL.

Saw this matching top and skirt that looks like a dress when you tuck the top in. Nic+Zoe is showing lots of big blooms for spring this year.

It’s a bad angle for a photo of this dress because it’s not as long as it looks. I love the fresh blue and white stripes in a vibrant cotton with a nice polished finish. Side ties completely wrap the waist. The V is modest and the length is 48″. It comes in 00-16W sizes.

This is my first try on dresses for you and I will have more in the future. These photos remind me how important tanning is for my legs. Tomorrow I will be collecting some of the best bronzers and leg makeup for mature skin on the blog. And yes, the “hose” is back for spring/summer 2023, but I won’t be wearing it when the weather is so hot.
