In light of Bridal Fashion Week, which started this week, we turned to the personal wedding stylist. Alexander Grant to keep up to date with the latest wedding trends.
Open the party season!
Outdoor weddings remain popular…even in the colder months.
“When we think about Covid, it’s easy to understand why couples would want to have their wedding outdoors, as it’s safer to be outside than inside. Although the popularity of small backyard weddings has declined since the peaks of 2020 and 2021, outdoor weddings remain hugely popular. Due to increased demand, couples are booking dates a little further into the colder months than usual. Outdoor weddings can offer unique style opportunities and make it easy to choose something other than your typical black backup outfit. Don’t forget to bring a shawl or jacket and wear seasonal fabrics in case it gets cold.”
Colors are welcome, not just indoors.
“According to the vast majority of customer feedback, while people continue to love their comfort, they are tired of being in the gray and black sweatpants they have been wearing for several years. As women try bolder, brighter dresses and men avoid resorting to plain navy or charcoal suits, guests come up with more colorful options. This goes for the wedding party as well. A trend I’ve been practicing for a couple of years now is for bridesmaids to be in complementary colors rather than all in the same dress, and if possible, men do similar things.”

People do what they want.
“Certain types of weddings, venues, ceremonies, styles, outfits, etc. Conventional ideas about Couples seem to have a better idea of what they want and need from their wedding, and are making decisions that are more in line with their beliefs rather than focusing on the details to please parents, family, and friends. I have seen this especially in wedding fashion and style. Where both brides and grooms choose dresses and outfits that make them feel more like themselves than a traditional bride or groom. Everything from the unconventional colours, to the groom and groomsmen without a tie, to anyone in sneakers or even a tuxedo. Individuality lives its moment.”
Book fast.
“The rush to book venues and vendors that defined the wedding boom in 2022 hasn’t completely disappeared, and while it might make you think logically that there would be more availability, that’s not the case. Not only have vendors received support from the pandemic, but many over the past few years have lost track of what they once lost and are now. Came here wanting to have fewer weddings to continue spending time with family and friends on the weekends they found again. Not only do you inquire about the big ones like the venue, planner and photographer, but also reach out to any other vendor, no matter how small, to make sure they’re available. It also applies to bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen hires. Tying the donkey to a solid stake!”
More is more and bigger is better.
“Whatever the season, couples are done with those small intimate weddings and they want more. They don’t just want more, they want bigger and more dramatic. Acting with couples who do what they want, they go for maximum impact where they can. We love it for fashion and style, where couples – even men – have a change of clothes or two, a change of shoes, and more unique gifts for each other and the wedding party.
