Best Summer Fabric to Try: Cotton Gauze

Cotton tulle fabrics are everywhere this season, and for good reason. This natural material is super soft and breathable for hot and humid summer weather on the road. I’ve been wearing this lightweight fabric for years and love the elegant texture it brings to the outfit. I also like that it doesn’t require ironing! Here in my spring locker room diaries I sample a few new pieces of gauze and add some to my wardrobe.

I found this classic button-down shirt on a recent trip to the J. Crew Factory. I tried in melon (shown here, but finally came home with light blue tones. This is how I wore a J Crew factory gauze shirt with a gauze skirt for a casual dinner in Mexico.

Here is a fun gauze dress I found. I loved the line but finally bought it this dress in the navy. The fabric is opaque and lightweight, so it is ideal for warm weather.

I bought it in navy blue and wore it often during my last Mexico vacation. The sleeves are a huge plus in my book and the tie in the front gives the bodice a nice shape. It comes in stripes, navy, and green, but is selling out fast.

I also love this striped tulle coverlet. The high-low hem is unique and you can’t go wrong with a fresh stripe for summer.

this simple dress makes it very easy to prepare in hot weather. Add your favorite sandals, a sun hat, and your essential sunglasses for a polished, put-together summer look.

Tommy Bahama Midi Tulle Shirt

I know many of you love to wear dresses in the summer because they are easy and cool. This shirt dress from Tommy Bahama checks both boxes. It also comes in black or vibrant yellow.

Foxcroft Buttoned Shirt

I love button-down shirts because of their versatility. I can tie it, tuck it in, or leave it unbuttoned on a tank top or swimsuit, just like I did with the gauze I first showed. This top from Foxcroft it comes in a few different shades, but right now I really like pastels like this pale purple!

Cotton Tulle Top

You can really find any garment you’re looking for in gauze, even a t-shirt! This cotton blouse by Caslon has a nice ruffled texture. I ordered this blue, then I discovered it was coming too here is a strip.
