Best Sports Bras for Older Women

[ad_1]

When I published The Most Comfortable Bras for Women Over 60 last week, there was a lot of interest from the AWSL community to collect a sports bra. I decided to take the plunge and research the most supportive, comfortable, and easy to put on and take off athletic bras on the market.

This post has a wide variety of options, as various physical activities require different levels of support. You definitely don’t need a high-impact bra for yoga like you do for a dance class or a bike ride! I also know that AWSL readers have a variety of bust sizes, so I took that into account when considering factors such as full coverage, underwire, padding, and strap size.

As I mentioned in my post last week, when you order a new sports bra, don’t forget to donate your old bra(s) to a local women’s shelter.

Best Sports Bras for Older Women

The Fruit of the Bench Front Closure

A few AWSL readers have mentioned that they prefer to wear tight-fitting athletic bras because it can be difficult to pull sweater styles over your head. This breathable, full-coverage bra from Fruit of the Loom has full coverage and hook and front hook-and-eye closures. I would recommend this for low-impact exercise, as the soft cotton will still allow some movement.

Champion Point Comfort

This sports bra by Champion takes the pressure off your shoulders with gel-filled straps. It’s wireless and comfortable, yet supportive enough for your favorite workout activity. It’s a great budget-friendly option for under $20. It comes in sizes 34C-42DDD.

Lululemon Enlite Front Zipper Bra

If you’re looking for a high-support bra that also covers the front, you should check out this bra from Lululemon. It’s an investment piece compared to some of the others I’ve shared, but you all know what I think about quality products that will last. This bra was created with running in mind, so it’ll keep everything in place throughout all the high-impact activities you do. Find it on a 32A-40DD.

Natori Yogi Convertible Bra

This underwire athletic bra from Natori fastens at the back. Suspenders can be removed from their standard position diagonally, allowing you to wear them with a variety of training tops and tank tops. Reviews say they’re invisible under clothing, and full-coverage cups provide medium to high support. This is the bra recommended by my friend with larger breasts. It comes in sizes 32A-38H.

Glamorise Anti-Splash Camisole Sports Bra

The seam on this Glamorise bra gives you high-impact, full-coverage support without the need for uncomfortable underwire. I thought adding breathable mesh to the neckline would be great for those looking for added protection while still allowing you to stay cool. Get yours in sizes 34C-50J.

Wacoal Underwire Sports Bra

You all read in my previous post that I usually don’t choose underwire bras because my breasts are smaller. If I was well equipped then this would be my choice! The underwire is made on the outside of the bra so you get the lift and support you need without the uncomfortable wire feeling on your skin. The straps are wider but narrow so they don’t puncture or slip and are adjustable from the back. The unique design prevents the “uniboob” that many women complain about with sports bras, while also preventing any bounce during your high-impact workouts. You can find this in sizes 32C-40I.

Athlete With Fitted Bra

Athlete/sports bra combinations are very useful. They’re also great if you hate doing laundry because you’re only making one piece of dirty clothing instead of two! I recommend these for low-impact activities like hiking. I’ve combined a few more options below that I think look good!
