Such is the case with AS by DF, a contemporary ready-to-wear label that has recently been launched and incorporates a range of curves into its range.

And when you add plus size leather to mixed recycled or upcycled plus size leather? Curiosity immediately arose. AS by DF is the brand of Denise Focil, who founded her brand in 2009 with a single goal: to make the perfect leather jacket.

I first found As by DF on the 11 Honoré website… A newer brand that offers us a choice of plus-size leathers? I had to go inside. I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I checked the size ranges up to “3X”. (more like 2X compared to Ashley Stewart’s size chart) but their dimensions are slightly different from most 3Xs we’ve seen. So be sure to check your measurements and compare them with the size charts.
When I learned that Denise Focil’s brand deals with sustainability in leather and offers plus size options. (up to 3X or 18/20)and its mission is to be. “carbon negative”? AS by DF’s mission is to consciously create fashion. Their purpose “To be able to leave this world in a better way than we found it.” And AS by DF is not for conservatives. From the pieces we’ve seen, the collection is for people who are confident or want their outfits to inspire confidence.
With leather or textured cropped tops, high slit skirts, this contemporary brand is definitely for those who want to make an entrance or stand out.
According to an interview with forbes, Denise Focil and her team launch their recycled leather collection. The AS by DF team takes and supplies leather scraps that would normally be landfill waste to create the looks you see.
The As by DF team is an official partner of the Ocean Conservancy, a nonprofit dedicated to cleaning the oceans. AS by DF has pledged to donate $10 from each sale! They have already donated over $40,000 in 2022.

As As by DF continues to grow, I hope they’ll expand their size range to include a full plus size chart, and scale it up to at least 26/28 to be on par with other oversized independent designers.
However, as this is their first dive into the field, I hope they can receive this feedback with love and encouragement, because this is such an open space in the world of plus size fashion and we like what we see…
