Each season, Pantone forecasts what it sees as upcoming fashion color trends based on the runways, interior design and the general mood of the time. They’ve also released a forecast for a color of the year and a color of the year 2022, which they call Very Peri (as in very periwinkle blue). It’s a big change from this year’s colors (Ultimate Gray and Illuminating Yellow) and they describe it as a color that encourages creativity and personal creativity.
Pantone Too Fairy – Color of 2022
When I look at this color, I see it as a cooler blue-violet color and hence it will look good on all cool palettes. It’s pretty medium (value just means how light or dark a color is) and so it will easily beat most cooler color palettes. You can see with the color palette that it stands in the middle of the value scale – neither too dark nor too light).
However, I’m sure we’ll see warmer red-violet versions of this color as well as darker and lighter versions in stores (as always with color trend predictions versus reality of life). Below, I’ve selected a warmer version of Very Peri that works for those with warm undertones – you can see that Very Peri has a redder undertone rather than a bluer undertone.
A gorgeous violet shade of blue will team up gorgeously with a mint green called Cascade, see London Fashion Forecast and lemon yellow called Popcorn, and a cool teal green they call Harbor Blue from New York Fashion Forecast underneath.

I’ve broken them down into cool, warm, and some universal colors and neutrals so you can more quickly identify more possible colors for you and your palette.

You’ll notice that the neutral choices between London and New York are pretty similar – white and cool gray to warm brown.
Color Estimation Comparisons
Here I’ve made some comparisons between colors that are more similar to each other from both London and New York Fashion Forecasts so you can see them in relation to each other (the easiest way to identify color characteristics.
As you can see both warm and cool greens, warm and cool yellows will also be available. Darker blues are both warmer (i.e. can be worn by anyone) and there are very bright colors with softer versions.
Notice the pinks, notice how the London Potpourri Pink version is cooler and the New York Gossamer Pink warmer – can you see the yellow hue in it that makes it warm rather than cooling? Gum pink is also hotter, so be careful when purchasing warmer and brighter pinks, the pink you choose will look like the pinks in your color palette so you get your most beautiful shades of pink.

Your version may be lighter, darker, brighter or smokier depending on your palette, but some colors will have versions available to you, and those colors always have various expressions in clothing.
